Being Green in 2014

Happy Earth Day! If you are not planning on planting a tree today or starting a new composter, perhaps you can start with your everyday cleaners that use only sustainable ingredients and reduce the harmful chemicals that we are adding to the environment. From soaps, diapers, face creams to toilet paper, these earth friendly companies are some of the greenest we have found in 2014.

Burt's Bees has been around since 1984, way before sustainable was cool. Starting their line from bees wax candles, Burt's Bees now carries all personal care products from lotions to chap sticks.




Dr Bronner's Castille Soap is one of the oldest if not the oldest organic business' still in practice today. An olive oil based soap that began in Emanuel Bonner's home in Germany in 1858, the family sold the soaps to washrooms all around Germany. In 1948 the family named the company Dr Bronner's and packaged their products imprinted with Emanuels' philosophies in tiny script on the labels of each soap bottle which is still recognizable today. They still believe in those old morals of being all certified Fair Trade and Organic!



CleanWell is a green company selling botanical disinfectants that claim to kill 99.9% of germs without the use of any chemicals. Founded by Standford Medical Scientist, Dr. Larry Weiss, CleanWell has a multitude of cleaning products from hand sanitizers to deorderizers made with a patented formulation of thyme oil.


ecologic logoEcologic manufactures recycled packaging for dry ingredients such as detergents and soaps to wet ingredients such as milks and juices. Founded by Julie Corbett in 2008, the 100% recycled and recyclable-made products come from cardboard and newspapers and can be found with products sold at Target and Whole Foods.



Seventh Generation has been around for the past 25 years doing the non toxic thing and saving us from those nasty chemicals. Finding healthy solutions for your home, family, and environment while leaving a more sustainable world for the next generation has been their platform from the beginning. Started by Jessica Alba, the company is based on the idea of bringing families eco friendly products that is safe for their new babies and helping the environment for the future generations. Perfect for the new parents, The Honest Company sells prenatal vitamins, swim diapers to stollers.
