What's The Difference Between a Hot Tub and a Spa?

You may be wondering, What is the difference between a hot tub and a spa?
The short answer is nothing, as it is a common practice for us to use custom hot tub and custom spa synonymously. The more in-depth answer, however, is that hot tubs and portable spas are manufactured tubs that can be installed aboveground or inground and do not necessarily have to remain in the same location.

Taking the Numptia Super Yacht for a Spin

Posted by Krista Payne on Dec 5, 2011 10:55:30 AM

One of the most prestigious yacht shows in the world is the Monaco Yacht Show which is known for the elaborate yachts on display. This year was no disappointment for amazing motor yachts despite the drop in sales in 2011. Unveiled at the show was the fabulous Numptia Superyacht. The 70 meter superyacht was the top attraction at this years event. Built by the Italian shipyard Rossinavi Yachtscan, The Numptia was built by the finest craftsmen in the world. With interiors done by Salvagni Architetti of Rome, the large vessel is designed using a lot of natural materials such as wood and stone. Every aspect on the ship was custom made including the vases, rugs and china. The attention to detail can be seen in every corner of the ship. From the clear walled plunge pool, to the marble soaking tub, Designer Achille Salvagni painstakingly searched out the best products he could find and had them custom made to fit his design. The Numptia accommodates up to 12 guests in six different suites which includes a full master suite. The boat also entertains a library, full bar, theater room an elevator and helicopter landing pad.

If you are looking to buy a motor yacht, the Numptia just went up for sale for a mere $85,000,000. Or if you would like to take it out for a weekly spin, the ship will cost about $690,000 per week.

Japanese Style Bath on Designers Wish List

Posted by Krista Payne on Oct 27, 2011 1:27:59 PM

Perusing the October issue of Architectural Digest, I notice an interesting advertisement by Clarisonic (you know that cool little device that washes your face? Love mine and my dermatologist swears I will look younger-so I bought 3). Clarisonic featured award winning interior designers to get the scoop on what is new in in-home spas, which is fast becoming the new beloved room in the house. One of the notable designers featured was Laura Kirar, founder of Laura Kirar Designs who is known for her design in award winning restaurants, boutique hotels and luxury residences. Ms Kirar said that digital technology is becoming a popular choice in bath and shower fixtures. With digital operated fixtures, the bather is able to turn jets on, regulate water temperatures and pressures all with a tap of the finger. Other tips that she had for designing an in-home spa is choosing quality materials over quantity, and reducing visual clutter. "Better and fewer materials and surfaces make for a more serene environment." On her wish list for her own personal spa? A hand glazed Japanese Style bath with large drain spout. Call us Ms. Kirar, we think you will like what we can design for you!

Fashion Designers Team Up With Luxury Bath Firm

Jason Wu

Jason Wu, became the designer darling when he was chosen by Michelle Obama to design her fabulous inauguration gown. Now, Jason Wu is getting in on the act of designing fittings for luxury baths and accessories for the entire bathroom. Collaborating with Brizo, a high end bath fittings company really seems like a natural fit for the designer. Designing clothing has similar components as interior design. Accessories make the outfit and the room. Just the right scarf, pillow or knob can make all the difference. Along with the aesthetics, Jason also worked with Brizo on a new touch technology. Touch it, and voila it turns on. Expected out in November, the designer has designed a 12 piece matte black line that is modern and edgy.

After the Games the Centre will provide two 50m swimming pools with moveable floors and separation booms, a diving pool and dry diving area for a full range of community and elite use.
